Responsibilities:
- Assist chefs and cooks in preparing ingredients for cooking, including chopping vegetables, portioning meats, and measuring ingredients.
- Learn and practice basic cooking techniques under the guidance of experienced chefs, including sautéing, grilling, baking, and frying.
- Follow recipes and instructions to ensure consistency and quality in food preparation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and storing ingredients properly.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of kitchen stations before and after service.
- Participate in menu development and testing, offering creative ideas and feedback.
- Observe and learn from experienced chefs during service hours, assisting with plating and garnishing dishes as needed.
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation standards, following proper procedures for handling and storing food.
- Attend training sessions and culinary workshops to further develop skills and knowledge.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff and front-house team members to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Performs other related duties/ tasks as assigned by superior/ management.
Requirements:
- Must possess at least a Diploma/ Degree in Culinary Arts or other related disciplines.
- Familiar with cooking techniques, knife skills, and familiarity with kitchen equipment.
- Knowledgeable of food safety regulations and practices, including HACCP guidelines.
- Able to cope with a fast-paced working environment.
- Excellent teamwork spirit and outgoing personality, with good customer service skills.
- Willing to work on early shift, closing shift, weekends & public holidays.
- Possess own transport and willing to travel.
