We are looking for an experienced and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality sushi dishes, ensuring food safety standards, and delivering an exceptional dining experience. This role requires expert knife skills, creativity, and a deep understanding of Japanese cuisine.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare and execute sushi dishes, including sashimi, nigiri, maki rolls, and other Japanese specialties
- Ensure the highest quality and consistency in presentation, taste, and freshness
- Source, inspect, and maintain the freshness of fish and other ingredients
- Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen workspace, following food safety and sanitation standards
- Innovate and develop new sushi menu items in collaboration with the Head Chef
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in sushi-making techniques and best practices
- Manage stock levels, monitor inventory, and ensure efficient food preparation
- Interact with customers when required, providing recommendations and explaining dishes
- Adhere to restaurant policies and uphold service excellence
Job Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef in a restaurant setting
- Expertise in sushi preparation, knife handling, and Japanese cooking techniques
- Strong knowledge of seafood selection, handling, and preservation
- Understanding of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations
- Creativity in sushi presentation and menu development
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
- Strong teamwork, leadership, and communication skills
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed
