Job Responsibilities
- Machine Setup: Ensuring that CNC machines are properly set up before production runs. This includes adjusting tool offsets, workpiece clamping, and machine parameters to match the specific job requirements
- Work Scheduling: Planning and organizing the production schedule for production machines to optimize efficiency and meet production targets. This involves prioritizing jobs, coordinating with other departments, and adjusting schedules as needed
- Tool Management: Managing the inventory of cutting tools, toolholders, and inserts required for both machines. This includes ordering, organizing, and replacing tools as necessary to maintain uninterrupted production
- Production Monitoring: Continuously monitoring the operation CNC machines during production runs to ensure they are running smoothly and detecting any deviations or issues in real-time include target of output
- Quality Assurance: Overseeing the quality control processes for machines, including inspecting parts, conducting periodic quality checks, and implementing corrective actions if products do not meet specifications
- Efficiency Improvement: Identifying opportunities to improve the efficiency and productivity of CNC machines. This may involve optimizing cutting parameters, tool selection, or programming techniques
- Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of machine settings, production data, and quality control reports for CNC machines. This documentation is essential for traceability and process improvement
- Training and Supervision: Providing guidance, training, and supervision to machine operators and junior machinists working on machines to ensure safe and efficient operation
- Safety and Compliance: Enforcing safety protocols and ensuring that all employees operating the machines adhere to safety regulations and compliance standards. Conducting safety audits and addressing any safety concerns promptly
- Communication: Keeping production managers and other relevant stakeholders informed about the progress, challenges, and resource requirements for all CNC machines
- Problem Solving: Quickly addressing any technical issues or breakdowns in either machine, troubleshooting problems, and coordinating with relevant teams for repairs
- Operate two CNC machines simultaneously can be demanding, but it's essential for maximizing production capacity and maintaining high-quality standards in a manufacturing environment. The senior machinist plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of both machines while meeting production goals
Job Requirements
- Minimum 3-4 years of machining centre experience and knowledge
- Read and interpret technical drawing
- Able to work rotating shifts
- Ability to operate vertical lathe machines is an advantage
- Vocational education with good mechanical, electrical or machining knowledge welcomed
Working Days
-5 working days (Mon – Fri), 8.30am – 6.15pm
