Jewellery Designer
Job Description
We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Jewellery Designer to join our growing jewellery business. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating jewellery designs based on customer requirements, references and ideas, as well as preparing technically suitable designs for manufacturing. This role is ideal for a designer who has strong CAD jewellery design skills, understands jewellery construction and manufacturing requirements, and enjoys creating customised pieces. The position will begin on a part-time basis for the month of September, with the intention of converting to full-time employment from October when the shop launches.

Key Responsibilities
Create original jewellery designs based on customer ideas, requirements and references.
Develop customised designs for rings, earrings, pendants, necklaces and bracelets.
Produce accurate CAD jewellery designs suitable for manufacturing.
Design jewellery incorporating 18K gold, diamonds and gemstones.
Translate customers’ concepts or reference images into original and practical jewellery designs.
Make design revisions based on customer feedback and requirements.
Ensure designs consider jewellery construction, dimensions, stone setting and manufacturing limitations.
Prepare technical design details and communicate requirements clearly to suppliers and fabricators.
Collaborate with the sales team to understand customer requirements and translate them into suitable designs.
Communicate with suppliers and manufacturers regarding technical specifications and design requirements.
Ensure designs are practical, accurate and suitable for production.
Stay updated on jewellery design trends, techniques and materials where relevant.
Requirements
Preferably 2–3+ years of jewellery design experience.
Strong CAD jewellery design skills.
Experience using jewellery CAD software such as Rhino, MatrixGold or equivalent.
Able to prepare CAD designs suitable for manufacturing.
Experience designing 18K gold, diamond and gemstone jewellery.
Able to design rings, earrings, pendants, necklaces and bracelets.
Strong understanding of basic jewellery construction and manufacturing processes.
Knowledge of stone setting, dimensions and manufacturing limitations.
Able to translate customer ideas, sketches or reference images into original customised designs.
Able to communicate effectively with suppliers and fabricators regarding technical requirements.
Creative, detail-oriented and able to work accurately.
Able to make revisions based on customer feedback.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of diamonds, gemstones, jade or pearls is an advantage.
Able to work independently while being part of a small team.
